Workshops for Scouts from Sanok and the surrounding area

On 17–18 April 2026, Dr Janek Gryta from the project team led a workshop for scouts from the Sanok Scout Group. The participants visited the site of the Jewish camp in Zasław. They examined numerous archival documents relating to the site and also had the opportunity to analyse questionnaires concerning memorial sites in the area, compiled by scouts in 1965. Following their visit to the camp site, the participants prepared a plan for an exhibition about the site, which will be presented to, amongst others, students at the University of Southampton.
“The workshops on the Holocaust at the Zasław site were, for me, a truly enriching history lesson that will stay with me for the rest of my life. We don’t often focus on local history; to be honest, I’d never heard of the crimes that took place in Zasław before, and yet it’s not far from Sanok,” said one of the participants after the workshops. The educational activities are funded by the Foundation Remembrance, Responsibility and Future (EVZ).
